“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
This is probably one of the most quotable movie lines of all time.
It’s from the Wizard of Oz and is Dorothy’s way of telling her beloved companion, Toto that they’ve left the safe confines of rural Kansas and have arrived in an altogether different place.
A place that at first makes her feel slightly uneasy, out of her depth even.
But it’s also a metaphor for how we feel at the start of a journey into the unknown.
In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy’s journey was one of self-discovery. By the time she reaches her destination, she’s changed from the scared, insecure little girl at the beginning of the film to a mature, self-reliant and responsible young adult.
The journey is just as important as the destination.
The vast majority of people who get married all have a great time once they reach their destination, i.e. their wedding day.
However, some find the journey more uncomfortable than others.
Instead of the Yellow Brick Road, you need to travel the Wedding Highway of Bliss.
Many people travel this long and winding road without so much as stopping for a comfort break. But there’s a few who break down and need hauled in for urgent repair.
At 88 Events, we insist that all of our clients enjoy their wedding journey just as much as they enjoy the big day itself.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment so make sure you enjoy it as much as possible.
